Syn Free Béchamel Sauce Perfect for Lasagna & Moussaka Dishes

slimming world bechamel sauce for lasagnes and moussakaThis is a syn free bechamel sauce you can use when making a lasagne or moussaka or any dish which uses a white sauce really.

Its a fabulous little recipe and one to keep handy.

People get confused and think its a cheese sauce but it isn’t. This recipe uses quark but try it before you are turned off by that as I promise you its a great tasting sauce and completely syn free too.

  • 260g quark
  • 2-3 tbsp fat free fromage frais
  • 2 eggs
  • Pinch of nutmeg.
  1. In a large bowl beat the quark until smooth.
  2. Add the fromage frais and mix together.
  3. In a separate bowl lightly beat the eggs then add to the sauce.
  4. Mix in with a pinch of nutmeg.
  5. Top the lasagne or Moussaka

    Hi Karen. Made this sauce for lasagne tonight and was very pleased with result. Obviously, doesn’t compare to the real béchamel sauce, but for a diet version it was spot on. I used Quark with garlic and herbs with about 50g cheddar on top. Lovely! Good luck on your journey.
